Constructed of two walnut slabs and a cedar post, this piece stands sleek and functional. The flush wood deer track inlay is made out of alder. The top slab had a natural crack that was filled with a tinted clear epoxy to leave a completely flat and smooth top, without getting too eccentric. The top is fixed to the cedar pedestal by a thick metal plate that is recessed into the top. The bottom of the cedar post is a mortise and tenon joint with the base walnut slab, it is then glued together and screwed from the bottom for maximum strength and rigidity.
The design of this table is intended to make the rustic wildlife style feel much more high end and refined. The contrast between the walnut top and the alder deer track inlay helps accent each other. The pedestal style of base offers amazing stability while keeping the footprint from getting too big and bulky.
