The top and bottom slabs of wood are spalted maple. The log pedestal base is a wildly unique cedar, and the footrest is made of 12" wide boat cleats. The top and bottom wood pieces are finished with a high gloss epoxy. The cedar log is finished with a semi-gloss finish to break up the shine and allow each piece to be its own while also coming together perfectly. The top and bottom slabs were finished with a ceramic top coat as well.
Table Rock Lake is an absolutely beautiful sight to see. For those who have an appreciation or connection to TRL, this piece will help bring it into your home. The blue epoxy that fills the lake on this table top has varied depths giving the appearance of both a shoreline and the varied depths of the actual Table Rock Lake. The footrests are made of six 12" boat cleats, continuing the nautical lake theme throughout the whole piece. A dark brown texturized powder coat was used for the cleats to offer both a beautiful appearance, as well as a strong lasting finish that can hold up to the wear and tear a footrest can experience.
The top maple slab is a cross cut of a tree, sometimes referred to as a cookie cut. These types of cuts, especially when they keep the live edge like this one, really show off what that tree was like. This particular slab is loaded with unique grain and wild colors. For both strength and visual reasons, the entire top slab was soaked in epoxy to stiffen up and solidify any weak points in the wood. This process also continued the lake theme by making the wood appear wet from the high gloss epoxy.
